Top 4 Adventures for Hen Parties

Moon River Party Cruise

No Hen Party visit to Carrick-on-Shannon is complete without a Moon River Party Cruise along the majestic Shannon. Only a stone’s throw from our riverside accommodation, you will find the famous Moon River Cruiser in its usual mooring position at the Quay Wall. On a chilly day, the cruiser is fully heated and offers an enclosed bar area where you can stay warm and cosy. When the sun shines, there is no better place from which to experience the Shannon, than the outdoor deck of the cruiser.

In the evenings, it is the turns of the Hens and Stags to experience this unique party venue. With is live music, a fully licensed bar and catering on-board, it is the perfect night out. After an hour out on the river, you and the ladies will be brought ashore and have the rest of the evening to explore some of the best night life in the north west!

Moon River is the most popular venue for Hen and Stag parties – where else will you get to experience such a unique party venue?

Treasure Hunt

Perhaps you are the lucky (favourite!) one in the group who has taken on planning the activities for your best pal’s Hen Weekend? Well, don’t be stuck for ideas. There are so many activities available in and around Carrick-on-Shannon, to make sure this weekend is one that you and all the ladies will remember for a long time.

If you are looking for a fun, competitive and challenging activity to ease yourselves into the weekend then perhaps a treasure hunt around town, brought to you by thehen.ie, might be just the thing. It’s a handy way of getting to know your way around town too – which will be useful when you’re looking for the chippers on your way home at some ungodly hour on Sunday morning!

For the activities, your group will be split into teams who are instantly at war – the gloves are off from the get-go! Each clue leads to the next, but before you move on you must complete one of the hilarious tasks to build up points so your team may be victorious. Clues are specific to Carrick-on-Shannon, taking in various hot spots and visitor attractions.

So What’s Included?

The Treasure Hunt will be personalised for your group and will last for 90 minutes of great craic! There will be facilitators on the day to help with any queries you might have – obviously no hints will be given!
And of course, there is a Bottle of Bubbly for the winning team. Depending on the location, there is a minimum of 15-20 people depending on location.

Prices: 15-24 people/€30pp
25+ people/ €25pp
And the bride-to-be goes free!

Boda Borg – Lough Key Forest Park

It’s Leitrim – let’s face it – it might rain. So if you and the crew are stuck indoors but are looking for some laughs and bit of adventure, up the road a few miles, in Lough key Forest Park, you will find Boda Borg – an indoor adventure for teams of friends, a little bit like that old TV show, the Crystal Maze.
Teams have to work together to find their way through a maze of puzzles, a somewhat easy assault course and some not too demanding but fun physical challenges. Don’t worry – it’s not terribly physical – and there is a lot of team work needed – so it will be suitable for most folk. Maybe check in with the organisers beforehand to make sure that it is a suitable activity for all of your group.

With 15 Quests, 47 challenges and no instructions, once you enter the two-storey Boda Borg only teamwork, ingenuity, trial and error and skills you probably didn’t know you have will allow you to progress through its 47 rooms! It contains fun-filled activities, imaginative puzzles and enjoyable tasks but no instructions. Accept the challenge if you dare…
